Parent Involvement Policy

The Patrick Henry Parent Involvement Policy and Compact (PDF) outlines how the parents, the school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement. It also outlines the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Car Riders

All children who ride in a car must follow this procedure:

Arrival

The drop-off time for students starts at 7:45 a.m. and ends promptly at 8:00 a.m.

The drop-off lane opens at 7:45 a.m. and closes promptly at 8:00 a.m. After 8:00 a.m., you must park in the parking lot and come to sign your child in at the main entrance at Door 1. Children cannot be sent in alone.

Cars will enter the lot to the right of Douglas MacArthur Elementary School. The direction of the traffic is one-way.

Children must get out of their car seats and exit the car on their own. Parents cannot get out of the car.

Dismissal

The pick-up for kindergarten only is from 2:30 p.m. to 2:35 p.m. in a dedicated lane for kindergarten students. 1st - 8th grade pick-up is in a dedicated lane and starts at 2:40 p.m. and ends promptly at 3:00 p.m.

Cars will enter the lot to the right of Douglas MacArthur Elementary School. The direction of the traffic is one-way.

All children will be called to come out of the school. When directed, you will pull up to the curb, and your child will come out to your car. Parents cannot get out of the car.

After 3:00 pm, you must park in the lot, and an adult must come to the main entrance at Door 1 to sign children out.

Walkers

Arrival

Walkers must use the sidewalk to the right of Douglas MacArthur Elementary School, wait in the area to the right of the building in the area with cones until 7:45 a.m., and continue along the sidewalk to the main entrance at Door 1. -Students will be allowed to enter the building at 7:45 a.m. For safety reasons, an adult must remain with children until the doors open at 7:45 a.m. After 8:00 a.m., you must walk your child to the main doors to sign them in.

Dismissal

All walkers will dismiss at 2:45 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. through Door 36 into the pick-up area with the cones. All families must use the sidewalk. After 3:00 p.m., an adult must come to the main entrance at Door 1 to sign children out.
